Tapas In Style

I'm back from a holiday in Europe and will be listing some observations all this week! First up is my favorite discovery from this trip, El Rovell in the hip Born district of Barcelona. A stylish yet cozy space, the tapas temptingly arrayed along the bar similarly provide a modern spin on Spanish classics featuring jamon, cheeses and various seafood. The most distinctive offerings were their desserts (uncommon in most tapas bars), which included meltingly soft creme catalan and beautiful parfaits. Sangria was a powerful concoction of red wine, triple sec and fruit, devoid of the usual sweet soda. Have a nibble at the bar, or snag a table and order from the full dinner menu.

El Rovell is at c/ Argenteria 6, Barcelona
