Slow Food Gem

Everyone agreed one of our best meals was had at one of the least fancy restaurants on this trip. Antica Trattoria dei Mosto, located in the quiet town of Ne in the hills of Liguria, is renowned for its Slow Food cuisine. Apparently, this currently trendy movement that emphasizes local, sustainably-grown ingredients actually originated in Italy. Not surprisingly, many of the dishes were vegetarian-friendly and absolutely delicious, including possibly the best pesto pasta (a specialty of this region) I have ever tasted, though the main course of veal al forno was both extremely tender and flavorful. Though the establishment is small it is clean and tastefully adorned, for an experience that defines the term "simple pleasure".
