H&M's next move

Yes, Madonna's ads for H&M are all over town, but collaborations aren't quite the news they used to be... More interesting for the fashion business is the launch of a new brand like Collection of Style. COS describes itself as "the progeny of H&M that merges high fashion attributes (meticulous fabrics, finish and fit) with ground level pricing" - essentially H&M's attempt to woo a more mature and sophisticated group of professionals. Its flagship shop opened on London's Regent Street a few days ago, and pictures of both the space and the clothes indicate a strong influence of clean, modernist Scandinavian design. Prices range from about $60 for women's shirts to $600 for men's suits. No news yet on when stores will hit the US...
