My New Soundtrack

It's been a long wait for Pulp fans, but Jarvis Cocker has finally released his solo album... and though I was already biased to think it's terrific, it's actually taking some time for the retro-ish rock tunes to grow on me. But what a cool coincidence that JC also makes an appearance on Air's gorgeous Pocket Symphony, which to me is the true successor in sound and spirit to Moon Safari. And finally, Amy Winehouse is as fabulous as all the critics say - a voice like a modern Nina Simone - but her music has a specifically bluesy, brassy feel that probably won't appeal to everyone.
