Hola Tasca!

Overall: Neighborhood fave!
Cost: $35 incl. one drink
I am loving the ongoing tapas trend, but some incarnations certainly rise far above others (Ostia, a block away from Tasca, was nearly deserted). This is my favorite Spanish restaurant yet since Tia Pol! We enjoyed delicioso chorizo with figs, sangria-braised short ribs and garlic piquillo shrimp among other dishes, all of which tasted modern yet authentic, flavorful but delicate (except for the ceviche, which came with actual popcorn - too bizarre). The sleek white space is accented with colorful, Gaudi-inspired prints, and was crowded but not so much that you couldn't hear yourself or would have to endure an endless wait for seats. Even the sangria is served in refined glasses, not the usual clunkers - it's the small touches that count right?
